In nature, there are various sources of water, and water has different analytical indicators and meanings for different applications.

In the treatment of industrial circulating cooling water systems, we mainly determine whether the water quality of supplementary water belongs to scaling or corrosive water quality, and have formed three main judgment indices: Langelier saturation index (L.S.I), Ryznar stability index (R.S.I.), Puckorius scaling index (P.S.I.), etc.

From the perspective of thermodynamic equilibrium, LSI has significant limitations in practical engineering applications, especially when water treatment agents are added to circulating water systems, they lose their predictive power and often make prediction errors. The stability index is more accurate in predicting water quality compared to the saturation index. Later, through theoretical and empirical calculations from hundreds of circulating water systems, the total alkalinity of water can more accurately reflect the corrosion and scaling trends of cooling water than the actual pH value of water. The stability index RSI's actual measured pH value is changed to equilibrium pH, which means the scaling index is more in line with actual production.

In order to more accurately predict the operating indicators such as concentration ratio of the circulating water system, Shangyuan Environmental Protection has designed and developed the "SYWATER Circulating-water Water Quality Analysis Software" by gathering technical personnel from the headquarters, application technology department, R&D personnel, and network department. The software can accurately analyze the saturation LSI, scaling PSI, and stable RSI index of the make-up water quality, quickly obtain the major indicators of the make-up water quality, and the controllable range, providing reliable technical guarantees for precise control of the circulating water.
